Top Union Electronic Conflict Minerals Statement

Top Union Electronic does not support or use metals such as tin (Sn), tantalum (Ta), tungsten (W), gold (Au) extracted from the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) and its neighboring countries or obtained through armed conflict, illegal mining, and inferior working conditions. Control of conflict minerals:
  1. Do not purchase conflict minerals.
  2. Suppliers must complete the "Top Union Conflict Minerals Investigation Form" to ensure the source of minerals.
  3. Provide the "Restricted Substances Specification" to suppliers, requiring them to control the upstream raw materials and not purchase conflict minerals.

hazardous substance free
We prevent pollution to protect nature based on the principle of customer-oriented and law-abiding.

Promotion of Hazardous Substance-Free Processes

Under EU RoHS, China RoHS regulations, and customer requirements, the demand for removing prohibited substances (lead (Pb), cadmium (Cd), mercury (Hg), hexavalent chromium (Cr+6), polybrominated biphenyls (PBB), polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDE), etc.) from industrial and consumer products is increasing. The promotion of lead-free electronic products advocated by the EU and China began on July 1, 2006. Products exceeding the restricted substances are strictly prohibited or conditionally imported. This process change represents Top Union Electronic's ongoing research and development strategy.
Top Union began trial production with multiple clients in 2004, formally assisting clients in mass-producing products compliant with RoHS or SONY GP standards by early 2005. Subsequently, to provide a broader and more systematic service scope to clients, Top Union obtained the IECQ QC080000 certification for the management of hazardous substances in electrical, electronic components, and product processes in 2006

Occupational Safety and Health Policy

We aim to create a safety culture with zero injuries and accidents.

Greenhouse Gases

This year, Top Union initiated a comprehensive greenhouse gas inventory for all plants and subsidiaries, aiming to complete ISO14064-1 Scope 1, 2, and 3 verification by Q4 2024.

2023 Greenhouse Gas Emissions: (Scope 1, 2, and 3 data covering all plants and subsidiaries)

  Scope 1 Scope 2
2023 170.089 3284.919

Unit: metric tons CO2e/year

The total annual greenhouse gas emissions for Scope 1 and Scope 2 in 2023 amounted to 3455.008 metric tons CO2e, with 95.08% coming from Scope 2 electricity emissions. Scope 1 emissions, from mobile and stationary combustion sources, totaled 88.205 metric tons CO2e, accounting for 2.55%.

  1. To align with international reduction trends, our Sustainability Development Committee tracks reductions using the product life cycle concept, implementing carbon reduction measures in green procurement, 6R strategies, and energy-saving production.
  2. In 2024, the replacement of outdated equipment is a major investment. This year, we plan to replace chillers over 15 years old with first-class efficiency units and IE4 compliant auxiliary pumps, along with the installation of an air conditioning monitoring system. This is expected to reduce annual greenhouse gas emissions by 300 metric tons CO2e.
  3. Additional energy-saving measures include adjusting equipment operation times and replacing factory lighting with LED bulbs to save electricity and reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

Water Resources

Top Union has long been committed to water conservation and environmental protection. Our water-saving plan starts with daily life, making the most of available water resources.

  Water Consumption
2023 21,139 m3

Through equipment maintenance and repairs (e.g., cooling towers), we save water usage, reducing monthly equipment water consumption by about 10%. Additionally, we regularly promote water conservation awareness among employees, fostering habits of saving water.

Waste Management

Top Union is dedicated to environmental protection, achieving ISO 14001 environmental management system certification for all plants and subsidiaries in 2005. We continue to track performance through internal and external audits, with annual reviews by the Sustainability Development Committee.

General Industrial Waste Hazardous Industrial Waste
2023 64.7768 metric tons 13.101 metric tons

Adopting the product life cycle concept, Top Union strives to minimize waste generation, recycling all by-products, and promoting efficient resource use. This includes:

  1. Implementing energy-saving measures
  2. Going paperless and recycling paper
  3. Recycling resources and waste sorting
